"Interruption"

Something has happened.

There has been a shift, a change

that I knew was coming but expected

to go the other way. Even after

all this time it would have been

 

so easy to respond with more,

but although we have always

said the same things, we have

always communicated them

in different ways. In the few days

 

following our interaction there was

a drop in my need to share everything

with everyone, since I was only ever

attempting to replace you with them.

So I wonder what would happen if we

 

were to once again become actual friends

and stop reaching each other only through

one-sided indirect conversations; if I

were to lose the representative of my

audience and the driving force behind

 

all that I create. My words might

suffer if I were to find closure,

but our middle ground is temporary.

Soon there will be another shift,

a reversal that I know is coming.
